Where should I!
If you build a sand palace on the beach
Where should I build the palace of my life's dream!
This is living like the surging waves,
Where I want to be a still stream and flow!
To see one's name written in the sand and washed away by water,
Where do I want to live forever!
Enjoy the love of this time, Parth;
The sand will flow from the hand!
The poem contrasts the fleeting nature of a sand building with the
metaphorical palace of one's life dream, encouraging consideration on where to
focus efforts and desires for long-term satisfaction. Further, considers the
contrast between perpetual change and turbulence in life and the calm and
constancy of a life dream. The picture of one's name inscribed in the sand and
then washed away by water symbolize the ephemeral nature of human existence and
the insignificance of worldly achievements. The poem ends by urging us to enjoy
the fleeting moments of love and joy in the present, recognizing the
inevitability of time passing away like sand between our fingers. Overall, the
poem encourages introspection on life's purpose, the pursuit of lasting
fulfillment amidst impermanence, and the significance of embracing the present
moment with gratitude and love.
